The Holiday Treat Festival flyer

The Douglas Brothers Foundation gave toys and bikes to a record number of children at the 15th Annual Holiday Treat Festival.

To help spread the love to families, vendors and sponsors present were Peach State Health Plan and Ambetter, Premier Comprehensive Services, LLC, and Department of Public Health- Clayton County District. Our partnership with the City of Riverdale Town Center and their distribution of toys was a phenomenal impact of love given to children. Mr. Reginald McCollum of Premier Comprehensive Services spoke about the opportunity and recognizing the importance of family counseling to help prevent teen suicides and other derailing behaviors. Director of Riverdale Town Center Cultural Affairs Shakeba Williams shared her life experience of homelessness and her perseverance of success. She emphasized Riverdale Town Center is a community center that offers various programs and activities for families. Ms. Mary Baker, Clayton County School Board of Education District 6 spoke about her love and support for all clayton county school students and recognized the Douglas Brothers and family for consistently giving back to their community. Riverdale Mayor Evelyn Wynn-Dixon was honored to speak to parents about never giving up and believing in their children and shared her single-parent experience and successes.

One of the highlights of the event besides the toy giveaway and pictures with Santa was the Youth Dance Contest. ESPN Analyst Harry Douglas hosted the contest of several youth selected who displayed their impressive and athletic dance moves. The audience helped select the winners, but Harry decided everyone was winners for their confidence participating and all were rewarded cash prizes.

We deeply appreciate all volunteers, vendors, and partners who helped make this event a success: The City of Riverdale, Clayton County Public School Foundation,  Inc., Sams, Walmart, Publix, Kroger, Dream Cuts Barber, Ultimate Health Fitness Club, Peach State Health Plan and Ambetter, Toys for Tots, Raising Beautiful Butterflies, American Family Insurance, Athlete’s First, Premier Comprehensive Services, LLC, Veteran’s Helping Veterans, and S & H Catering Café & Catering, LLC.  There were great responses to this event’s impact: personal handwritten letters from children given to Mr. Douglas at the event thanking us and other comments such as “You all are a blessing to our family, thank you.” “Thank you in advance for all you do. You, your family, and your foundation are in my prayers.  This is a blessing for me and my kids.”

14th Annual 2022 Holiday Treat Festival

The Douglas Brothers Foundation is grateful for every sponsor and person that supported us this year to serve children and families in our community. Our 14th Annual Holiday Treat Festival was held at Jonesboro Middle School, where former Atlanta Falcons Player Harry Douglas IV and former NBA N. Y. Knicks player Toney Douglas attended. Jonesboro Middle School Principal Kimberlee Barnett is an impressive leader who loves community involvement and serving families. Families and their children  were blessed with a health fair and hot meals along with toys, bikes, coats, and shoes. Peach State Healthcare Team, Well Care, Akudo Healthcare and Pharmacy provided resources such as medical insurance signup, flu and covid shots and gifts and treats for families. Hot meals of turkey, chicken, yellow rice, and green beans were served to families and the delicious food was not wasted.

Harry Douglas IV currently ESPN Sports Analyst MC-ed the event and encouraged parents the importance of instilling confidence in their children and teaching them to give to people in need.

Harry hosted the children dance contest of 15 contestants. This is one of the  most exciting segments of the event because the winners are given cash money for 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place. The cheers of the audience determine the winners. The children performed with energy the latest dance moves to the great sound of Mr. Carl Dorsey of Vinyl Touch DJ.  Harry and the audience were amazed of the competitiveness, and physical flexibility of contestants. It was such a joy to watch the children perform.

Speakers of the event were State Representative Demetrius Douglas and Clayton County Public School Board Member Mary Baker. Mr. Demetrius Douglas donated 40 bikes making is possible for more children to get blessed. He spoke about serving his community to make a lasting difference. Ms. Mary Baker commented on her role and heart to consistently serve her community by striving for the best for parents and children in the school system. We thank our sponsors for supporting us to provide resources to children. Special thanks to State Representative Demetrius Douglas, Jonesboro High School Band Director Mr. Goodwin and students for toy donations,  Coach Floyd of Jonesboro High School Football Team and our 45 volunteers.
