DBF Grayson Allen Heading to Duke

Grayson Allen, Family
& Mr. Douglas

Grayson Allen is from Jacksonville, FL, a young man that played soccer before playing basketball.  Three years ago, Mr. Douglas team Douglas Brothers Elite played Grayson in a tournament in Florida.  Mr. Douglas noticed this special player and convinced his father and mother to allow Grayson to play with his team.  The rest is history.
Grayson turned down hundreds of scholarship offers to play at his dream school- Duke University.  Grayson enrolled in Duke this summer where he will be playing for the best coach in collegiate basketball.  This coach I have always admired.  Coach K made a big statement during my son Toney Douglas years at Florida State University.  Coach K called him the best defender in college basketball that year.  Six years later, Toney Douglas is playing professional basketball.  One day, Grayson would be able to suit up for a professional team.  The most I love about Grayson is his humbleness and being extremely coachable.

Grayson is a great young man on and off the court.  Duke is getting a quality young man.  Keep up the great work Grayson from the Douglas Brothers Foundation Family.  You were great to work with and coach.  NOTE: Grayson Allen was a McDonald’s All American, Parade All American and won the PowerAde High School Slam Dunk Contest in this year’s McDonalds All American Game.

DBF Elite Grayson Allen Commits to Duke

The Douglas Brothers Elite produces another elite star.  Grayson Allen is from Jacksonville, FL.  He was discovered by Mr. Harry Douglas two years ago in a little gym in the south side of Jacksonville. The moment Mr. Douglas saw Grayson he told his coach he was going to get him and showcase him because he didn’t need to be in that gym.  Mr. Douglas approached Grayson’s father and his father agreed to let him play with Douglas Brothers Elite.  Mr. Douglas took Grayson to Louisville, KY at the Hoopfest and Grayson began making a name for his self.  Last year Grayson took Big Shots by storm where he became one of the top players in the country.  Mr. Douglas stated that Grayson wasn’t in the Top 100 but by the time summer was over, as a rising junior Grayson had over forty scholarship offers and he was ranked in the Top 30.  Grayson was so overwhelmed and he never thought this would happen to him.  Mr. Douglas also stated Grayson and his family always thank him for giving Grayson the opportunity.

Duke was his dream school.  When the word got out by Dave Talep of ESPN, Coach “K” sent his staff to Big Shot event in Richmond to observe Grayson because he was coaching the Olympics games.  Last week Coach “K” made a home visit to Grayson Allen.  Soon afterwards, Grayson committed.

Mr. Douglas states that Grayson is a bright young man and great student-athlete with a 4.0 GPA.  It’s good to have players that are humble and respectful.

What a lesson learned to all children to live your dreams and believe.  Thanks to a man like Mr. Douglas who saw something in Grayson Allen and gave him the exposure.  The rest is history.  Mr. Douglas stated he has discovered and worked with so many players throughout his 28 years of community service.  Players such as Dwight Howard, Chris Paul, Adam Pac Man Jones, Hines Ward, Harry and Toney Douglas, Big Baby Davis, Darius Washington, Josh Powell, Chris Scott, Jermario Davidson just to name a few.

I asked Mr. Douglas what gave him the energy to coach?  He replied. “Passion for children, the game and that it’s taught the right way.”  If you are interested in Mr. Douglas training your basketball ball player one-on-one, only serious inquiries please email at
